The Green Fleet is a new sailing category designed for youths (aged less than 18 years) who have completed Junior LTS levels 1 and 2 (or the equivalent) and who are considered competent by the LTS Management Team to take part in club races.
In addition to competing in races, participation in the Green Fleet offers race coaching with an Australian Sailing accredited instructor, pre-race briefing and post-race debriefing, and the allocation of a dedicated safety boat and race support, between 12 noon and 5 pm. Participants can hire O’Pen Skiffs or a Laser 4.7.
To cover costs such as instruction and operating a dedicated safety boat, a fee of $20 will be added to the existing boat hiring fee of $30, making a sessional total cost of $50. Boat owners will be eligible for a discount. Discounts will also be available for hiring Club boats for regattas.
All in all, the Green Fleet offers a great way to sail with friends, participate safely in afternoon racing, learn from both group and individual instruction, delve into theory, set personal development goals and travel with club friends to regattas.
